Tamal de Frijol


The tamal de frijol, is a tamal made of beans, avocado leaves and masa prepared in bean broth wrapped up in a Banana leaf. Lending the tamal aromatic attributes.

In many communities of Oaxaca in the sierra norte, they are eaten as tortillas in festivities. They are made with black beans, and are cooked with avocado leaves, Poleo, or Epazote depending on availability. 

In some community the bean tamal is wrapped with fresh corn leaf. The beans are blend in a metate, only for ceremonial events.
